Chapter 1
Setting Objectives
This book has four recommendations for this chapter:
Set learning objectives that are specific but not restrictive.
Communicate learning objectives to students and parents.
Connect learning objectives to previous and future learning.
Engage students in setting personal learning objectives.
"Technology enhances the goal-setting process by providing organizational and communicative tools that make it easier to clarify the learning objectives"
"There are several ways that a word processor can help teachers and students set goals more effectively."
KWHL:
KWHL "prompts individual students to record what they know about a topic, what they want to learn about that topic, how they plan to learn it, and what they have learned at the end of the unit or activity."
What and Why: "graphic organizers that help students organize information before, during, and after a unit or a lesson. They can be used to engage students in a new topic, activate prior knowledge, share unit objectives, and monitor students' learning."
